Forgive me, my beloved soul

Forgive me, my beloved soul,
If I've caused your heart to ache.
Turn not from me, graceful beauty,
Though my love for you, you cherish not.
With your vows, you did deceive,
And with tears my trust you won,
Gained my heart, then bade me grieve,
Hate for me, is what you leave.
I shall weep beneath the stars,
Those gentle lights that softly gleam,
To them, I'll pour my painful sorrow,
of a love that lost its radiant beam.
Farewell my dearest, farewell my adored,
I leave for lands both bare and cold,
Where no birds sing beneath the sun,
Where love's sweet light will never shine.
